25/9/2008Three late ferries on Saturday 27 September for Millport's Illuminations

Millport's September Weekend is all about family fun and street entertainment, including pipe band music and the Illuminations and fireworks on Saturday.

Chair of the Tourist Association, Bill Steele, says apart from windows being dressed up, there will be a number of impromptu events staged by the shops during the day and out in the street. "There will be lots of things happening in the front of town throughout the day and in the evening."

The Illuminations will start with the padella lights being lit at dusk and the fireworks are scheduled for 8.15pm.

The Waverley's sister vessel the Balmoral will also arrive in time for the Illuminations.

CalMac has confirmed that there will be THREE late ferries arranged especially for Saturday, leaving Millport at 9.00, 9.30 and 10pm. Tickets will be on sale from Friday, and anyone wishing to leave the island on the late sailings MUST be in possession of a late boarding pass, so please state this when buying a ticket. CalMac's office in Largs can be contacted on 01475 674134.
