Swans in Millport

All summer I have been watching the family of swans at West Bay and at the harbour. Tragically most of the ugly little ducklings have gone, only one remains. And now one of the parents has disappeared. The wee family soldier on. Does anyone know what has happened to the other adult? I did see the wildlife rescue ambulance on the island on Sunday and wonder if it was here to collect an injured swan. Maybe someone can let me know

The swan was taken away in the wildlife rescue van.  It was alive, so presumably it is being nursed back to health.

Thanks Ann,

I have checked Hessilhead web site and see that Kirsten from the wildlife centre had called in on her day off on Sunday, just when they got a call about a swan on Cumbrae, that had fishing tackle in its mouth. Kirsten went to the rescue. The hook has been removed and after a short course of antibiotics it will return to its family near Millport. Look forward to seeing it back at the harbour soon
