4/2/2010s1millport gets its very own Community Correspondent

We're very pleased to say that Sandy Morton has agreed to become Community Correspondent for s1millport.

s1millport is an open forum for anyone who lives in, or cares about, the area to talk about Millport - if you live in, or care about, Millport then this site is yours to post to.

Sandy is a retired businessman with strong links to the Community and has served on a lot of Millport Committees in the past and present - he is also an internet addict.

We're delighted that Sandy has agreed to give Millport a hand by collecting and posting snippets of local news. It's a real service that Sandy is hoping to do for Millport, and we're extremely grateful. He isn't a professional journalist, just a member of the community doing his bit.

Sandy said: "I am delighted to be able to participate in, hopefully, taking Millport and Cumbrae forward and it seems to me that s1millport is the ideal way of doing this. A modern, lively, fast and free way for all people who care to get their ideas and aspirations across to a wider audience and hopefully get constructive comments, suggestions and practical help back."

If you want to get in touch with Sandy, then email is preferred - sandy@millport.net (easy to remember) or phone if urgent - 530478. Note: Just be aware, Sandy will be away Mon, Tues, Wed of next week (8, 9, 10 Feb). So if you want to get hold of him, just wait until Thursday!

Remember, though, that if you want to tell us all some news, make an announcement, or use any of the other facilities of s1millport, you don't have to wait for Sandy to post it - this is your site, so just go ahead and post it.
Well done Sandy, thank you. We don't live permanently in Millport at the moment (that's our future plan) so s1 has been a great boon in keeping us abreast of things. Since I first visited my wife's mother's place in Mount Stuart St opposite you in 1993, I have been in love with Millport and Cumbrae and realised a great ambition when we bought our own place in West Bay in 2002. I know that having your input will only make a great site better!
The right man for the job! Congratulations Sandy. s1 works well as a community site and I look forward to reading your news on a regular basis.
Could someone give me an update on replacement of the beautiful cherry blossom tree at the top of Cardiff Street which was axed down by the Council? I was under the impression some time ago that it was to be replaced.
Jan - Christine McCulloch, Secretary of the Community Council, advises that the trees will be planted in early March.
Thanks Sandy/Christine. Look forward to seeing that done although it'll take years before it matures into the beautiful tree which was sadly cut down
Good luck Sandy. Look forward to all your news!!

Have your say:
