Millport Media Weekend

Want to become a citizen journalist?

Want to report on local stories for your local community?

The Millport Media Weekend will run from the 7th to the 8th of July and will provide, for 10 individuals, an opportunity to receive training and resources to help them become local reporters for the island.

Areas of training covered will include: how to conduct an interview, legal issues of reporting, visual/sound recording and editing, web publishing, social media marketing and much more.

Training will take place within the Garrison and will run the course of the two days from 9:45am to 5pm with opportunities to go out and test your newly acquired skills.

10 places are available and we would like a cross section of the community to take part with the minimum age allowed being 16 years of age.

If you would like to take part and have any questions, email Andrew at millportpodcast@gmail.com stating your name and 100 words as to why you want to become a citizen journalist for your area.

As part of the weekend we will also be running documentary film nights within the Town Hall, from 7pm till 11pm each night. Further details will be published nearer the time.
