'Jaws' arrives for the C&W Festival
Just in time for the evening entertainment on Saturday, this shark appeared in Kames Bay and stayed for a couple of hours cruising around the bay and often very close to the shore.
It was some 12/15 feet in length and you can just imagine the fear it might instil in any parent with children in the water if they were unaware that it was a harmless basking shark. It would have been feeding on plankton brought in by the incoming tide.
Around the waters of the Clyde it is quite usual to see 25/30 foot long basking sharks slowly cruising just below the surface.
