Incredible Edible Todmorden

This is not so much a story about Milport as one about the Lancashire town of Todmorden or 'Tod' as it's called locally. If you google the above words you'll come across a storyabout a town which, through the initiative of its residents, has become totally selfe sustaining in vegetables. 

Millport has such a strong local community ethos it seems to me that the residents of the town could rise to a similar challenge. Many of the gradens in the town have large lawns that could easily be put over to the growing of vegetables. In 'Tod' they grow them in the public spaces and, due to the locals taking 'ownership' of them, this has seen a considerable fall in vandalism. 

I know many of the flats in Millport are holiday homes but the owners might still be persuaded to allow the activity.

As I'm not a resident of the island I could be making an unnecessary comment but I've always been so impressed by the community spirit expressed on S1.
