Cumbrae Community Garden
As chairman of the Isle of Cumbrae Initiative Community Company, it is my pleasure to bring you all an update on the Community Garden.
Cumbrae Community Garden
The Community Garden set within the grounds of the Garrison, where the old Nursery for the local gardeners used to be, is now almost finished and ready for members use, if you have not already registered an interest in taking up one of the raised beds, now is the time to get in touch giving as much information as possible, minimum requirement would be name, address and telephone number.
The intended cost of each bed will be £50.00 per annum plus £5.00 for pass key, for this you will have the use of the bed for the year, the use of the poly-tunnel and the supply of a quantity of worm cast and organic compost in the second year of the garden operation added to this we will have supply of garden tools for the communal use.
Its beed a long hard struggle to get to this stage what with all the disappoointments over land use and being unable to the criteria set out by some of the funders from whom we sought assistance and without the generosity of Cumbrae Community Development Company we would not be where we are today, so come along and join us, you may not get a bed right away and will have to be added to a waiting list but everyone is welcome to come to the garden as it is for the enjoyment of the whole community, we have a rest and viewing area set out for the use of all. Once the beds have been allocated we intend to have an official opening day with perhaps the involvment of the Beechgrove Garden and all that such a visit would entail.
