Millport, whatever your perspective on it, is a remarkable place. Whether it’s a summer holiday venue you have visited since you were a child, weekend retreat from the pressures of every day life or indeed your home, it means so much to so many. This is a small, close knit island community where Millportonians are fiercely proud of both their island and their community. As with any small island there is a sense of oneness and belonging.
With this in mind I would be grateful if you could support a fund raising event for the local community. In the next few weeks I will attempt to swim around the island. This is estimated at 12-13 miles in open water. This attempt will take place one weekend in late July or early August depending on tides, weather conditions etc. Any funds raised will be divided between the Lady Margaret Hospital and golf club junior section. In this way both the infirm of the island and the youth will benefit. There will collection jars located around the front in various shops etc. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated
