Yee-hah! And welcome to the Wild West (Bay).

Ol' timers reckon it was way back in 1995 when the first Millport & Nashville Country and Western Festival moseyed on into town.

So here's a good ol' ride down Memory Gulch courtesy of the honchos at the Evening Times, who took some of them new-fangled magic lantern pictures of the event way back when.

Seems some high-falutin' big-city film designer type name of Rony Bridges helped transform the town with his Wild West shop fronts and saloon doors.

The big ol' pic with the hombres kickin' back was taken in that first year, as was the pic of the hut.

The pic of Christine Stevenson as Pocahontas was taken in 1996, when we all decided that the first year of hoedowns, gun-fights and fine sippin' whiskey had been so good we were going to do it all again!

Reckon you folks can do better? Then why don't y'all post your pics of past Country & Western Festivals right here on s1millport?

What a blast from a much slimmer past! For some reason I've only just seen the photograph of Tony, Brian, Rony, Mike and myself. I can't remember how I got roped in to that but I also was photographed on the lifesized black model horse outside what is now Spice Island as was Luigi. The thing I remember most was having to be 'punted' up on top of it!

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
