Guidebook to the Cumbraes

by Ann McKeag
There is a very old guidebook which can be downloaded at www.cimbrae.co.uk. It is very descriptive of the island as it was many years ago.

Alex Gallagher says

A fascinating read. Very detailed in many ways, and showing a deep undesrtanding of the local area and geography and a wide academic knowledge.

I get the impression that there should be illustrations which would have been a great help to understanding some of the text, but they were not obviously within the text.

The author mentions another proposed book on Largs. I wonder if it ever got produced... must search the web!

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
