Dr Herbert Paul

by LOUISE allan

Dr Paul was my great uncle - I never knew him as he had died before I was born but my father Dr Walter Allan has related to me many of the stories about Millport throughout the early 1900s, till around 1950s I believe...

My Great Aunt was Bessie Paul, a teacher at the local primary school - again, sadly, I never knew her but again my father and mother - Marion Allan - have told me of her life and times...

We still have the old family house in Millburn Street... Happily...

I am therefore so lucky to be able to have many days / weekends/ and weeks there throughout the year...

I am happy to be contacted if anyone wishes to hear my fathers memories of his family's times on the island...

Louise Allan

Sandy Morton says

Hi Louise - I would love to hear your father's memories.

Hi Louise, I'm interested in Dr Paul in relation to his links with Richard Elmhirst at the Marine Station (they worked together on moulting of crabs amongst other things). Dr Paul's background before he took on the TB hospital would be the particular thing I'd like most to know more about. Can you assist at all? Geoff Moore (pmoore@millport.gla.ac.uk)

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
