The Dancing Midge Cafe

The Dancing Midge Cafe is a family run business located opposite Crocodile Rock. We strive to provide our customers with excellent and friendly service. Our food and snacks are freshly prepared from quality ingredients and we also cater for childrens with Kidz Midgie Meals at £3.75. Our drinks include freshly ground italian coffee, hot chocolate drinks and many more.

Try our reasonable priced specials including quality breakfasts, homemade soup and sandwich/toasties or paninis (from £4.95) and homemade scones with jam and clotted cream (£1.85) to name just a few.

The guide gives safety tips and pictures of what you may find hidden away. To get your free copy and to enjoy a voyage of discovery just pop in and pick one up.

The Dancing Midge Cafe is included in the 'Lonely Planet Guide' and has featured on Channel 4's 'Life Begins Again' with Gaby Roslin and the previous owners who gave the cafe its unique name.

We went to this cafe yesterday, it was not very child friendly, food very overrated and overpriced, I could have made better at home.

This comment is contrary to everything we provide at this cafe. If Isabella Harrison has an issue then please talk to us and outline your issues. We aim to provide the utmost in service, hospitality and food which is extremely good quality at a very good price. This comment totally amazes us as a business when all we normally receive is good comments. Please call me on 01475531144 and I will put this right.

I think Isabella Harrison was in the wrong cafe!! They provide nothing but excellent food, excellent service, very resonable prices for freshly prepared meals and snacks in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Linda Malcolm says

I agree with Duncan, this doesn't sound like the Dancing Midge I know.

The food is always freshly prepared, served by pleasant staff and is reasonably priced. The view is wonderful and although I do not have children there are usually families at the cafe and always get the same welcome and service.

I suppose there might be a "problem" for some families, they don't do chips.
Thank goodness

Interesting comment Isabella, but not so for me! As a visitor to Millport, I have a keen eye for quality, and bargains (after all I am a Yorkshire man and we have a reputation to keep to?!), and, above all I seek such things as a 'Friendly disposition' which is very important as I do not wish to be served and got rid of in order to clear the table and leave in order to make way for the next customer.
I want a smile when I come enter any cafe. Where ever I eat, I want my child to feel welcome and have something to keep her occupied her while I rest.
I want my needs to be catered for, where the chef can add or take away things of my choice.
I want food that is good 'edible' quality.
A News Paper to read,
I want a bill that won't leave me annoyed and which will have me returning to the same place time after time, and that is just what I get every time I have been in the Dancing Midge, so they can always be sure of my custom.

Instead of leaving an acidic review on the Island website, why don't these people air their views directly to the owners at the time so that the situation may be resolved. We have two small children and visit the Midgie at least once a week, and always find John, Chris and all the staff to be very friendly and always helpfull. The food is always fresh and well presented and very good value.
Especially the scone with clotted cream.
The Dancing Midge is exactly what Millport needs with consistency and good quality produce.
Keep up the good work.

mrs isabella harrison could your kids see crock rock { yes } could they see a beautiful sea view { yes } well what more does a kid want ?

The food in this cafe would make Jamie Oliver jelous yes he would be reaching out for his note book hoping to get some tips. For a first class menu and view that over looks the costa del Millport bay. You would be hard pressed to find anywhere that as evrything you would want under one roof. The staff could not be more helpfull and the prices wont leave your purse feeling empty and your stomach certainly wont feel empty. Pop in and see just dont take it from me

I endorse everything that has been said - The Dancing Midge is great. I can never understand people who winge from the privacy of their computer. Stand up and say what you think, either that or be quiet. If she could have made better at home, perhaps she should have stayed there. Good luck to the Dancing Midge and everyone else trying to make things good on the Island.
