The news is that we need a New Minister!
Since the retirement of our last Minister, we are looking for a Minister to continue to expand the Outreach of our Congregation. We have many challenges including the possibility of a new build Church, and we want a person to encourage us as we move forward.
Our Clerk to the Nomination Committee is Mrs. E Ross of 18 Ferry Road, Millport, KA28 0DZ, telephone number 01475 530227, and informal enquiries can be made to the Interim Moderator Rev. James Whyte on 01475 568342 - email, jameswhyte89@btinternet.com.
The Parish of Cumbrae comprises of the Island of Great Cumbrae and the privately owned island of Little Cumbrae. The centre of population is the town of Millport. It is served by an half-hourly ten minute ferry crossing from Largs on the Ayrshire coast and is one of the most accessible islands on the west coast of Scotland.
Church services are held every Sunday at 11.am and a Sunday Fun Club meets at the Church at the beginning of the service and then adjourns to the hall.
The Manse is a detached stone built villa comprising of 9 rooms on 2 floors, plus a floored attic. It is in good condition and the kitchen and bathroom were refurbished in 1998. It is situated on Marine Parade about 1 mile from the Church.
There are 2 other Churches on the Island - the Scottish Episcopal Cathedral and the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour. All Churches work amicably together and have Holy Week joint services.
The Island is very well served both medically and socially, and there are shops in the town.
